Illegal dumping is a threat to more than just scenic beauty. Ocean and beach dumping threatens both seabirds and marine mammals: as many as a million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals die each year as they ingest or become hopelessly entangled in sandwich bags, fishing lines, six-pack yokes or other plastic garbage.
