immature captive under restraints An immature captive Peregrine Falcon in Southern Colorado. Once nearly extinct in the continental United States, Peregrine Falcons are in the process of being delisted and are an example of what the Endangered Species Act can help accomplish with the aid of private non-profit organizations such as the Peregrine Fund/World Center for Birds of Prey. Two high points in my early life were the summers I spent releasing young captive-bred Peregrines on two mountainous cliffs in southern Colorado.
