"By the way, what's the story behind this shot?" Lubricating mud, very very lubricating and brand spanking new Tevas that came off deep in the bottom of the holes. These sandals had been given to me as a Christmas gift by my my father just the day before, hence the need to sit down and dig them out Gales of laughter was also my father's general reaction. I had gone out of sight over to the other side of a small island in Aransas NWR in an attempt to get shots of Whooping Cranes. I thought it would be easy to cross a narrow mud channel and clearly I was utterly wrong. I asked my father to grab a lens put it on the camera and to follow me which he rather grudgingly did. He stopped grumbling when he saw the reason I had asked him and amazingly enough actually stopped laughing long enough to take the picture. Luckily I'm a great and long time afficianado of good mud and all I can say about this is - Perhaps the best and certainly the deepest mud I've ever encountered. It completely wowed me!
