Brown-crested Flycatcher adult eating walkingstick This Brown-crested Flycatcher wasn't fooled by the walkingstick's attempt at camouflage. Although flycatchers occasionally eat fruits and berries, insects are the mainstay of their diet. This bird had nested in a metal park gate that was in full sun for a good part of the day and was as a result incredibly hot. I am very truly amazed that the young survived long enough to eat this insect. All I can say, is that nest holes must be mighty hard to come by for this strange nesting place to have been chosen.
