White-tailed Deer Warily Takes Drink A white-tailed buck pauses to drink in the cold waters of McDonald Creek. Located in northwestern Montana, Glacier National Park provides habitat for many large North American mammals, including deer, grizzly and black bear, mountain goats and mountain sheep. Glacier is one of the most visually stunning parks in the United States, Deer are social animals, and they communicate their position through visual, vocal and olfactory cues. Although males avoid close encounters for most of the year, early spring and summer are times for establishing dominance. If bucks have not already established their respective ranks, a fight may develp, with both bucks rising to their hind feet.
